Researching luxury homes in Omaha? What do you consider to be a luxury home?  Is it the finishes, the square footage, or the location of the home?  There are many things to consider under all of these categories.  When thinking of finishes, what is on your list?  There could be many items.  Let’s start with the kitchen.

Appliances are the foundation of the kitchen.  There are lots of options here including double ovens,  larger refrigerators, warming drawers, advantium ovens, extra appliances in the pantry, or large cooktops with grill features.  Some additional upgrades include pizza ovens, built-in espresso makers, or even two dishwashers.

Additional features of a luxury kitchen may include a large walk-in pantry with built-in cabinetry, specialty cabinets for stand-mixer storage, spice racks, broom closets, and trash cans, as well as custom-built cabinets for any need or want.  Additional cabinet space for serving, typically called a servery or buffet, also adds to the feel of an expansive gathering area.   Larger drawer pulls make a statement about the size of the cabinets and give a nice finishing touch.

Large living spaces also contribute to the feel of a luxury home.  Larger kitchens that flow into a large living or great room space centered around an entertainment area or large gathering tables create an aura of luxury and welcoming to your family and guests.  Fireplaces in these areas help to create an ambiance and feeling of comfort and luxury.  Fireplace finishes can be tile, stucco or stone and can add a finishing feel to your space.

A large main suite with an expansive bathroom area is also a consideration when planning your luxury home.  Large walk-in showers with statement tile, rainforest shower heads, and a soaker tub will create the relaxing environment wanted in the main suite.  A large walk-in closet is a must and should include enough space for shoe racks, additional shelving,  hanging clothes, and built-in dressers.  Chandelier lighting adds to the feel of luxury in the main walk-in closet.  You may also want to consider adding large built-ins with glass doors to showcase some of your higher-end clothing.

An entertainment area in the basement to include space for bar cabinetry, a  pub table, gaming tables, and a large entertainment center built around a large television for watching sporting events is an absolute must.  You should consider adding appliances such as beverage centers or wine refrigerators.  A separate wine room with controlled temperatures is an added bonus for those who collect and enjoy wine.

Outdoor spaces bring the entertaining outdoors.  A fire pit, area for outdoor tables and furniture, a grilling area, a pondless waterfall, and well-planned landscaping all help to bring the luxury outdoors.

A large home also adds to the feel of luxury.  A large, expansive ranch plan of at least 2500 square feet can accommodate all of the features of a luxury home.  A larger story and a half or a two-story home can help separate the living space from the private bedroom and bathroom areas as well.  Location is a consideration as well.  Locating your home on a larger lot, in an estate section of development will help set it apart.
